Thomas Falkenberg, M.D.


Dr. Falkenberg has been practicing ophthalmology in Fredericksburg since 1996.  He is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Renasselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree.  In 1987, he received his doctorate in medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Cum Laude.  He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey where he also served as Chief Resident.  Dr. Falkenberg is board certified in ophthalmology.  He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.  The Consumer Research Counsel of America elected him one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists in Cataract & Refractive Surgery in 2004-2005.

Dr. Falkenberg serves as Medical Director of Willis-Falkenberg Eye Care.  He has over 15 years experience in various types of refractive surgery, including all laser LASIK, PRK, Astigmatic Keratotomy, and Refractive Lens Exchange. He also performs the most technologically advanced form of cataract surgery available with advanced intraocular lenses, including ReStor and ReZoom multifocal lenses, as well as astigmatic correcting lenses.  He also performs various types of eyelid surgery.


B. Roy Jani, M.D.


Dr. Jani has been practicing ophthalmology for the past several years in Virginia and joined Willis-Falkenberg Eye Care in 2005.  He received his medical education in an accelerated BA/MD program at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA.  After interning at the University of Pennsylvania’s Presbyterian Medical Center, Dr. Jani completed his residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.  He further trained in Corneal and External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. 

Dr. Jani currently serves as a clinical instructor in the department of ophthalmology at the MCV/VCU Health system. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the International Society of Refractive Surgery.  He has had several papers published in peer review journals. Dr. Jani is board certified in ophthalmology and a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology.  Dr Jani’s expertise includes Laser Vision Correction (LASIK / PRK), Advanced Cataract surgery (ReSTOR and ReZoom multifocal lenses, Toric lenses for astigmatism correction), Refractive Lens Exchange, Corneal Transplantation, Glaucoma, and Laser Surgery as well as ophthalmic plastics and diabetic eye care.


Shelly R. Hayes, O.D.

Dr. Hayes joined Willis-Falkenberg Eye Care in 2003.  She received her doctorate in Optometry from State University of New York and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Fordham University, Bronx, New York.  Dr. Hayes is fluent in Spanish and specializes in general eye care, contact lens fitting, and the management of eye diseases.

She also provides postoperative cataract surgery care.
